Install ScoutPing from the Chrome Web Store. After installation, pin ScoutPing to the Chrome toolbar so the popup is easy to open.

Install ScoutPing for Chrome
ScoutPing helps freelancers get faster alerts for relevant Upwork jobs. Set up your saved search, filter out noisy listings, review new jobs in one place, optionally receive Telegram alerts, and use Proposal Assistant to create editable proposal drafts. This guide shows how to install ScoutPing, create your first job alert, and make sure everything works.

interviews, contracts, income, replies, or job success.

page,
and use the ScoutPing popup to create your first job alert.
Recommended setup flow
Follow these steps after installing ScoutPing from the Chrome Web Store.

Open an Upwork jobs search
Go to an Upwork jobs search result page, for example
https://www.upwork.com/nx/search/jobs/.
ScoutPing job scanning is limited to Upwork search result pages.

Open the ScoutPing popup
Click the ScoutPing icon in your browser toolbar. Configure your search keyword, scan interval, and alert preferences.

Run your first check
Use the popup to run a manual check. Matching jobs can appear in the local inbox and floating browser alert badge.

Set up Proposal Assistant
Open a job page and use Proposal Assistant to create an editable draft from job context, your proposal settings, and your saved profile summary. You still review, edit, copy, and submit manually.

Set up Telegram if needed
Telegram alerts are optional. If enabled, ScoutPing uses the Telegram bot and chat configuration you provide to send job alerts.

Keep Chrome running
ScoutPing’s active scanner works while Chrome or a Chromium-based browser is running and the extension is installed and enabled.
Why ScoutPing asks for permissions
ScoutPing uses extension permissions only for the features described below.
Storage
Used to save extension settings, local inbox state, alert status, search configuration, and sign-in session information.
Tabs and scripting
Used to read selected Upwork search result pages and detect new matching jobs while the browser is active.
Alarms
Used to schedule periodic checks according to your configured scan interval and pause settings.
Upwork access
Used only for Upwork search result pages. ScoutPing does not scrape non-Upwork websites.
Telegram API
Used only if you enable Telegram alerts and provide your Telegram bot and chat configuration.
OpenAI API
Used only if you enable Proposal Assistant and save your own OpenAI API key locally. ScoutPing does not store your OpenAI API key on ScoutPing servers.
Floating alert badge
Used to show local ScoutPing alert UI while browsing. ScoutPing does not collect arbitrary website content, form fields, passwords, payment details, private messages, or browsing history.
Privacy summary:
Upwork job scanning is limited to Upwork search result pages. ScoutPing uses a lightweight global
content
script only to display the floating ScoutPing alert badge and local job alert UI.
Using Pro after installation
Pro access is connected to the email you use for ScoutPing sign-in and checkout.
Upgrade from the extension
Open the ScoutPing popup, sign in with your email, and start checkout from the extension. This connects your payment to the correct ScoutPing account.
Restore Pro on another device
Install ScoutPing on the other device, open the popup, and sign in with the same email used for Pro. Pro access will be restored when your purchase is confirmed.
Multi-device access is available within plan limits.
Troubleshooting
Common setup checks if ScoutPing does not show alerts immediately.
ScoutPing does not detect jobs on the page
Make sure you are on an Upwork jobs search result page, not a login page, proposal page, profile page, or unrelated website. Refresh the Upwork search page and run a manual check again.
The floating badge does not appear
ScoutPing may suppress the floating badge on sensitive pages such as checkout, billing, banking, login, password, OAuth, payment, and video meeting/watch pages. Open a regular webpage or an Upwork search result page and check again.
Telegram alerts are not sent
Check your Telegram bot token, chat ID, and whether you have started a conversation with the bot. Then use the test alert button in the ScoutPing popup.
Proposal Assistant does not generate a draft
Make sure you saved a valid OpenAI API key in the extension settings, opened a current Upwork job page, and reviewed your proposal settings. Proposal Assistant creates editable draft text only and does not submit anything to Upwork.
Pro does not appear after payment
Reopen the ScoutPing popup and sign in with the same email used for payment. If Pro does not appear after a short delay, contact support with the email used for checkout.
Does ScoutPing work when Chrome is closed?
No. ScoutPing’s active scanner works while Chrome or a Chromium-based browser is running and the extension is installed and enabled.
